8×8 has released a new report highlighting that AI has become a top priority for IT and customer experience (CX) leaders in shaping the future of work over the next six years.
The new report, “Future of Work: 2030 Vision Report”, surveyed over 400 leaders globally, examining workforce trends, technological priorities, and upcoming challenges.
AI has emerged as a top priority for UK business leaders, with 65% ranking it alongside cloud communications, while in the US, cloud communications is a lower priority at 37%.
In shaping the future of CX and employee experience, UK leaders see AI (88%), big data (85%), and cloud communications (82%) as the most impactful. Despite this, 68% of UK leaders believe AI will take more jobs than it creates, compared to a global average of 57%.
The UK is also at the forefront of adopting single-vendor cloud communication platforms, with 24% of organizations having fully transitioned, significantly above the global average of 15%.
Additionally, 64% of UK IT and CX leaders predict that by 2030, the standard work week will shift to three or four days, while hybrid working and video meetings are expected to dominate workplace communication.
UK leaders report higher preparedness for future challenges compared to global counterparts, particularly in areas like cybersecurity (78%), digital transformation (70%), and adapting to customer expectations (75%). Furthermore, 78% of UK business leaders have a future of work strategy, surpassing figures in North America.
Commenting on the report, Jamie Snaddon, EMEA Managing Director at 8×8, said, “Two years after the previous report, we can see distinct shifts in attitudes as AI has exploded. Across regions priorities and concerns vary too.
“The UK is leading the way on single-vendor cloud environments and is the most prepared for the multifaceted and complex challenges the future of work presents. It is, however, the most pessimistic about AI replacing human jobs.”
