Talkdesk has introduced Talkdesk AI Agents for Healthcare at HIMSS 2025.
This solution enables healthcare organizations to automate common patient and member interactions, reducing the need for live agent assistance while allowing human agents to focus on more complex issues.
Built on Talkdesk Ascend AI, which integrated agentic AI in October 2024, the new AI agents use natural language understanding to assist with tasks such as appointment scheduling, benefits enquiries, and prescription refills.
They adapt to patients’ preferred communication channels and languages, providing 24/7 virtual support. The system is designed for easy deployment in cloud-based or on-premises contact centres.
Virtual agents can be customized with simple prompts and integrated with electronic health records (EHR) and claims systems.
They can also provide personalized recommendations based on organizational data to enhance patient engagement and healthcare outcomes.
Evara Health has already implemented Talkdesk AI solutions, automating 45% of its call volume to improve efficiency and patient access.
The launch follows Talkdesk AI Agents for Retail in January 2025 and expands the company’s industry-specific AI offerings.
Patty Hayward, general manager of healthcare and life sciences at Talkdesk, said, “Agentic AI tools represent a seismic shift for the consumer experience at healthcare organizations, enabling them to drive greater value for patients and members.
Our customers are already seeing significant impact and value from AI, and Talkdesk AI Agents for Healthcare gives organizations the ability to take their automation and digital strategies much further, much faster, but with the robust guardrails that our industry needs.”
